Western Enterprises announces the availability of a new system that utilizes nitrogen for purging oxygen in AC and refrigeration line sets to eliminate oxide deposits during the brazing process. This system, known as the HVAC“VN” Series, consists of a state-of-the-art regulator with an integrated cylinder valve and a lightweight aluminum cylinder. The compact system features an ergonomic, built-in carrying handle with a highimpact protective shroud to eliminate exposed gauges that frequently leak and are easily broken.The system is available with a 22 c.f. or 44 c.f. aluminum cylinder.

The use of nitrogen is widely recommended in the HVACR industry as the best method to displace any existing oxygen in line sets during brazing to minimize the formation of oxide deposits on the copper tubing walls. If oxide deposits are created by not utilizing nitrogen purging, flakes may dislodge once the unit is operational and become trapped in the metering orifice leading to premature compressor failure. Should this occur,many manufacturers may not honor a warranty if the compressor failure is a result of an improper brazing procedure.
